hi! haven’t posted in a while because i’m working full-time again, and we are also looking for a house!
i have not lost my crafty side completely though… here is a little tutorial on my homemade washi tape storage inspired by a project seen on pinterest… enjoy!
i’ve been a busy bee making valentine’s day cards this weekend…
admittedly, valentine’s day can seem a little forced when you see it in terms of all the big cheesy floral arrangements and mountains of mediocre chocolate in heart-shaped boxes being sold at the grocery stores…
but there’s nothing wrong with taking a day to show appreciation for the people in your life who love and support you each and every day of the year, so i thought it would be fun to send each member of my family a specially-handmade valentine in the mail : )
this is the card i made for greg:
embossing folders: quickutz (heart), cuttlebug (herringbone); letters: making memories; ribbon: michaels; heart punches: recollections; stamps: studio g (be mine, heart outlines), hero arts (chevron); ink: stazon (red), versamark (watermark); border punch: ek success
this one is for my mom:
border punch, border stamp: martha stewart; heart punches: recollections; stitched pattern: sew easy; stamps: studio g (chevron heart, label)
this one for my dad:
patterned paper: basic grey; border punch: ek success; die cuts: slice by making memories (je t’adore design card)
and my sister:
patterned paper: basic grey; punch: recollections; die cut: slice by making memories (je t’adore design card)
and for my brother:
patterned paper: basic grey; punch: recollections; die cut: slice by making memories (je t’adore design card); embossing folder: darice
happy valentine’s day!
one of my very best friends (who lives in boston now) is helping plan a wedding for a friend. she asked me to design the engagement party invitation, which i was more than happy to do. i love designing stationery!
the bride likes mauve/purple/blue, hydrangeas, and the tv series downton abbey. she was really helpful in providing direction through inspiration photos (gotta love pinterest!)
here is the one that really inspired me:
and here is the design i came up with (info has been changed to protect privacy):
they were so happy with it, which makes me so happy and i wanted to share : )
hey y’all! i recently used the term “y’all” while asking a barista at peet’s coffee if they had any forks. no one says “y’all” here in the bay area. no one who’s from here anyway. but i thought i’d try it on, just for kicks, and i kind of liked it. so i did it again just now : )
anyway, thought i’d share this demo video i made showing how to create mini ticket strips with the fiskars jenni bowlin “ticket please” border punch, enjoy!
just a few new products i’m excited about from the recent cha show!

around here we have all been so excited that my sister in law is pregnant with twins! she’s having one boy and one girl, so the shower(s) are going to be themed: 2 peas in a pod
it seems only fitting that if she’s having two babies, she should have two showers! since family & friends live all over, we’re having one in southern california and one in northern, about a month apart. anyhow, greg’s mom and i did lots of planning, shopping, and prepping for the showers during our christmas visit.
among all the cuteness (pea pod diaper “cakes” made up of green baby blankets as the pods and such), i volunteered to make up a banner for the showers, using my slice machine and other scrappy supplies. i finished it up today and quickly strung it up on my fireplace to take some photos to share, but it’s being mailed off tomorrow for the first shower!
the peas are actually cherries from the ‘spring’ slice design card, and i trimmed off the stems/leaf! the scallop circle is from the basics card that comes with the machine.
the letters are from the ‘think pink’ slice design card, and the border punch is by fiskars.
this was a really fun project and what’s great is these are the bright colors that will be in the babies’ room, so hopefully mama will use it to decorate the nursery!
here’s a little gift card/christmas card holder i whipped up for my brother’s girlfriend for christmas:
i used my sizzix texture boutique an brand new snowflake embossing folder, my bracket frame punch and matching stamp by stampin’ up, white zing embossing powder, my new we r memory keepers magnetic trimmer for the scallops, and a dollar christmas stamp i got from beverly fabrics back in october.
i finally made a scrap space tour video. this is my first youtube video and i’m surprised that is just under 40 minutes long. also a little annoyed that it “thounds like i have a major listhp” for some reason. oh well : ) hope you are inspired with a few storage/organization ideas!
